RAW OR NEARLY RAW POTATOES: LOSE
THE DESIRE TO BINGE
When I went on the semiraw potato diet (see Chapter 3) it had
an unexpected benefi t. It eliminated my intense craving for food. A
faster way of eliminating intense food cravings is to eat a few slices
of raw potato a day. This can smooth the rough edges off of an
intense craving for food in a matter of days.
When the potato diet caused my appetite to diminish it got me
to thinking. Potatoes, being highly alkaline, especially when they
aren’t cooked to death, neutralize acidity. I had been hyperacidic—
that’s why the potato diet worked so well for me. Then it came to
me why this was so. My food binges began at the age of ten.
Before that, ear, throat, and stomach infections and three bouts of
scarlet fever had killed my appetite, causing such a severe calcium
defi ciency that I got rickets. The day my childhood illnesses came to
an end my appetite switched on. Ten years of continual infections
had to have left behind an enormous amount of acid waste from
the dead bacteria that had caused my illnesses. This acid waste
stimulated my appetite as soon as I stopped getting infections.
SUGGESTIONS FOR WEIGHT LOSS*
➤ Pantothenic acid (500 mg/day). Take pantothenic acid to
lower elevated insulin levels, common in people who are
overweight. Excessive insulin levels are associated with cancer,
specifi cally the recurrence of breast cancer.
➤ Nearly raw potatoes. These are effective in reducing hunger
pangs. For directions, see Chapter 3.
➤ Ice pack. Placed on the lower abdomen, it takes away the
appetite.
➤ Raw milk and butter. These are worth tracking down because
of their rich supply of the fat-digesting enzyme lipase and the
enzyme protease for the breakdown of protein. The greater the
intake of enzymes the more effi cient the digestion, which means
less fat is deposited in the fat cells.
