RECORDMANIA

HELLO KITTY
MEMORABILIA
For more than 30 years now,
Japan’s Masao Gunji has been
enthusiastically seeking out
Hello Kitty memorabilia. By
23 Nov 2016, he had amassed
5,169 individual items, as
counted and confirmed in the
Fourth District Community
Centre in Yotsukaido, Chiba,
Japan. The record-breaking
Kitty collection incorporates
a broad variety of objects,
including plushies (soft toys),
bento boxes, towels and
stationery items.

DOCTOR WHO MEMORABILIA
Lily Connors (UK) had assembled a total of 6,641 different
Doctor Who-related items as of 20 Jun 2016. Her collection
was counted in Pontypridd, UK. It’s a terrific achievement,
but Lily wants to go further: her dream is to be an extra in
an episode of Doctor Who and to own a full-sized Dalek.
Record-breaking runs in this family: Lily’s brother Thomas
holds multiple GWR records for basketball tricks, including
longest time spinning three basketballs (7.5 sec) and
most backward free throws in one minute (nine).

SNOW GLOBES
Wendy Suen (CAN/CHN, b. HKG) has
collected 4,059 individual snow globes,
as verified on 27 Nov 2016 in Shanghai,
China. She started her collection in
2000 and this is the second time she
has surpassed her own record, having
increased her hoard substantially
since she first achieved the feat with
904 snow globes in 2005.

MONOPOLY SETS
As featured on BBC TV’s The One Show, Neil Scallan (UK)
owned 1,677 separate Monopoly board games as of 27 Jul

  1. All of the items are officially released sets and still
sealed. Neil divides the storage of his collection between
Hayes in Middlesex and Crawley in West Sussex, UK.
