MOST BAKED BEANS EATEN
WITH CHOPSTICKS IN ONE MINUTE
On 1 Jul 2015, Mr Cherry, aka Cherry Yoshitake
(JPN), ate 71 baked beans in 60 sec – one bean at
a time – using chopsticks. The record took place
on the set of Officially Amazing at RAF Bentwaters
in Suffolk, UK. He saw off two challengers –
“Sizzling” Steve Kish and US Ray (aka Ray Butler)


  • who ate 65 and 36 baked beans respectively.

On 7 Sep 2016, André Ortolf (DEU) ate
252 g (8.8 oz) of Marmite in Augsburg,
Germany. He beat the previous record
of 218 g (7.6 oz), set by his hero Ashrita
Furman (USA) on 16 May 2012.
Record ‑hungry André also achieved
the most mashed potato eaten in
30 sec, wolfing down 598 g (21.09 oz)
in Augsburg on 17 Jun 2016.

Longest tamale
The Municipalidad Distrital de San Luis de Shuaro
(PER) made a tamale measuring 39.55 m (129 ft
9 in) in San Luis de Shuaro, Chanchamayo, Junín,
Peru, on 21 Jun 2016 – longer than a blue whale.


Longest relay of people feeding each other
On 11 Dec 2016, a total of 1,101 people flocked
to the Tsugaru fresh apple market in the town
of Itayanagi in Kitatsugaru, Aomori, Japan,
and fed each other fresh apples. Itayanagi has
been the home of Japanese apple production
since 1875, and produces around 26,000 tons
(23,586 tonnes) of fruit every year.


Tallest cake pyramid
On 11 Nov 2 016, Stratford University constructed
a cake pyramid measuring 2.79 m (9 ft 2 in) tall at
Potomac Mills mall in Woodbridge, Virginia, USA.
It contained more than 8,000 lb (3,628.7 kg) of
sheet cake (flat, rectangular cakes) and had
no internal support. The pyramid was made in
honour of the institution’s 40th anniversary.

Largest chocolate-tasting event
Fundación Nuestra Tierra hosted a chocolate‑
tasting event at the Expoferia Internacional del
Chocolate 2 016 in Caracas, Venezuela. A total
of 419 people tried three brands of artisanal
Venezuelan chocolate on 1 Oct 2016.

On 16 Aug 2015, a total of 418 guests at the
Sheraton Langfang Chaobai River Hotel in
Langfang, Hebei, China, dined in bed. This beat
the previous record of 388, set by the Pudong
Shangri‑La in East Shanghai, China.

Cookery TV show Saturday Kitchen (UK)
challenges chefs to make a three‑egg omelette
in the fastest possible time. On 2 May 2015, Theo
Randall (UK) set a mark of 14.76 sec live on set at
Cactus Studios in London, UK.

Fastest time to drink a pint of milk
On 26 Jul 2015, James McMillan (NZ) drank a pint
of milk in 3.97 sec in Christchurch, New Zealand.
The calcium‑rich record was set on the GWR
Challengers website.
On 17 May 2016, Dennis “The Menace”
Bermudez (USA) achieved the fastest time to
drink one litre of lemon juice through a straw

John Evans (UK) balanced 429 drink cans on
his head at Ilkeston School in Derbyshire, UK,
on 5 Jun 2007. The cans weighed 173 kg (381 lb

On 17 Feb 2012, German TV reporter Benedikt
Weber downed a bottle of ketchup in 32.37 sec,
for the infotainment programme Galileo, at
Chong’s Diner in Nuremberg, Germany. During
the attempt, Weber used a drinking straw
measuring 0.60 cm (0.23 in) in diameter.
