stars as their signature character in seven MCU movies.

Suicide Squad (USA) grossed $64,893,248 (£49,004,100)
according to box-office intelligence service The Numbers.
Within three days, the film had grossed $133,682,248
(£102,227,000) in the USA, the highest-grossing August
weekend at the domestic box office.

Of the top 100 highest-grossing movies of 2016, a total of 37
were sequels, spin-offs or franchise entries – the third year in
a row that this record has been broken. Of the top 20 highest-
grossing films, 13 were sequels or franchise entries, including
Kung Fu Panda 3 (CHN/USA, main picture) and Harry Potter
spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (UK/USA,
inset). Six of the top 10 entries were sequels or in a franchise.
