along with 500 mcg/day of B 12 (take the sublingual tablet) and
100 mg /day of B 6.
➤ Hawthorn berry extract. Begin with 20 drops and work up
to 50 drops three times a day. Even if you don’t have heart
disease, when you reach the age of fi fty, take 20 drops twice a
day to prevent decomposition of the heart. Hawthorn berry
extract lowers blood pressure by dilating the peripheral blood
vessels.
➤ Devil’s claw. This herb is the most effective supplement for
lowering blood pressure.
➤ Ta u r i n e (2 to 4 g/day). This amino acid is used extensively in
Japan to treat congestive heart failure and heart arrhythmias
(irregularities).
➤ Liquid mineral complex. Look for one that includes at least
400 mg of calcium, potassium, and magnesium and 200 mcg
selenium. Follow the directions on the bottle.
➤ Thyroid supplement (preferably Thytrophin, a glandular
made by Standard Process). It speeds up the effi ciency with
which waste products are eliminated from the body by
accelerating the metabolism.
➤ CoQ-10. This coenzyme is involved in the production and
transportation of energy in the heart. There is more CoQ-10
in the heart than in any other organ. The heart patient should
take 150 mg/day of Ubiquinol, the activated form of CoQ-10.
For maintenance of the cardiovascular system, take 30 mg/day.
➤ Carpain. This is an enzyme found in papaya, which is good for
the heart.
➤ Hot water with lemon juice. Drink this fi rst thing in the
morning. It removes plaques from arterial walls, detoxifi es the
liver, and stimulates the production of food-digesting enzymes.
➤ Cooked asparagus and raw or cooked celery. The arsenic
in these vegetables, which is in phosphate form and therefore
not dangerous, aids in the regeneration of heart tissue.
➤ Watermelon. This fruit has 60 percent more lycopene than
tomatoes. It strengthens the heart as well as the prostate.
