smaller bubbles in the bed was thus less pronounced than the increase of interfacial area
corresponding to the smaller size of bubbles. The secondary gas dispersion in
sectionalised bubble columns thus has obviously even more positive effect on the extent
of interfacial area and thus consequently on kLaL values than on gas holdup (bubble bed
voidage).
