UPDATE
The rebound of the Voyage
Charters fleet in the British
Virgin Islands post-hurricane
season of 2017 includes the addi-
tion of new catamarans, such as
the Voyage 480, AfterGlow, and
two Voyage 500s, Cape Grace and
Serenity. A new Voyage 575 will be
launched and available for bare-
boat and crewed charter in early

SAIL BY THE STARS
The instructional division of
Barefoot Yacht Charters in
St. Vincent offers a course for
sailors who want to learn low-
tech wayfinding. Designed by
author and veteran sailor Jack

Lagan exclusively for Barefoot
Offshore Sailing School
(BOSS), the course is suitable
for beginners as well as qual-
ified navigators. The course
consists of two parts: mate-
rials for study, and one week
of practical instruction aboard
a 40 to 50-foot sailboat with

MARINA FORT-
LOUIS HOSTS NEW
MOORINGS BASE
The Moorings and Sunsail have
moved out of Oyster Pond and
opened a charter operation at
Marina Fort-Louis in St. Martin
(marinafortlouis.com).
The mixed fleet of monohulls,

sailing catamarans and power-
boats from the island’s French
capital of Marigot are avail-
able for bareboat and crewed
chartering around the Leeward
Islands and beyond. One-way
charters are available on a

CAPTAIN-ONLY
CHARTERS FROM
NEVIS
Capt. Brett Williams and his
Beneteau 473 offer Leeward
Island charters. Half Tidy,
based in Nevis, is a classic
cruiser in excellent condition.
Suited to one or two couples,
or a family, there are two guest
cabins with en-suite facili-
ties. The yacht has a saloon
down below and a large deck
for sunbathing and relaxation.
A bow thruster assists maneu-

The crewed division of Horizon

offers Kitesurf Safari cruises
throughout the Caribbean

boat. Crew and RIBs are on
hand to coach all levels and film
videos via drone. This amenity

Narragansett Sailing
Charters in Rhode
Island offers five
catamarans and
eight monohulls for
exploring southern
New England from
May through mid-
October 2018. Bareboat
or captained trips, as
well as certification through the American Sailing Association cur-
riculum, are available.
Catamarans include two Helia 44s, two Lucia 40s and a Lagoon


  1. A new Seaward 32 joins the monohull fleet, which includes a
    Pearson 303, Sabre 30, Hunter 38, Ericson 38, Bristol 41, Jeanneau 42
    and Hunter 43.
    The fleet will also be available in early May, in time for on-the-
    water activities in Newport, Rhode Island, the only North American
    site for the global Volvo Ocean Race stopover and in-port racing.
    The Narragansett Sailing Charters fleet is situated at slips at Cove
    Haven Marina in Barrington, Rhode Island. For details, contact the
