Charles and Margo Wood - Charlie\'s Charts North to Alaska

(Elle) #1
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

I cannot claim to be an expert on Alaskan waters and owe thanks to many
people who have helped me to discover its manifold beauty. In particular I
"ish to thank Dr. and Mrs. R. White of "Seacomber," who were especially gener-
ous in advising me of useful anchorages and harbors in the beautiful El Capitan
Passage and adjacent waters. This section of the guide might have been less
satisfactory without their help.

In Juneau assistance was given by Gary Bassett of "EagIe," whose welcome
ignored the pouring rain. The National Park Service at Giacier Bay National
Park also deserve my thanks, especially Superintendent Mike Tollefson and
Supervisor Bruce Page. who helped arrange entry without the delay that occurred
as my early application snarled in red tape. The Canadian Coast Guard was also
most helpful in answering my questions.

There are many other people who both knowingly and unknowingly assisted me
and I thank them alI.
