'Silence Mayday' and 'Silence Distress' are used during distress
working to silence an interfering station. 'Silence Mayday' is used by the
casualty, or other station controlling distress. 'Silence Distress' can be
used by a station - other than the controlling station - to silence an
interfering station (note 'station' refers to the 'radio station' onboard ships
and aircraft, not just to coast stations). 'Silence Fini' is used by the
controlling station to indicate that distress working has ended and that
normal working may resume. 'Prudonce' may be used by the controlling
station to allow 'restricted working' on a frequency where distress traffic
has gone quiet (e.g. when most distress working is on Ch 16, the controlling
station may allow 'restricted working' on 2182kHz).
