MF /HF Maritime Safety Information (MSI) Receiver{s)

Where an MF/HF MSI receiver is fitted (additional to NAVTEX)
it will be checked to confirm that:
Make, type and serial numbers are as previously recorded, or agree
with subsequent licence changes.
Units are type approved, CE-marked or wheel-marked.
On-air reception checks are satisfactory.
There is no adverse electrical/magnetic interference from other
equipment.

Enhanced Group Call (EGC) Receiver(s)


Each EGC receiver will be checked to confirm that:
Make, type and serial numbers are as previously recorded, or
otherwise agree with subsequent licence changes.
Units are type approved, CE-marked or wheel-marked and are IMO
compliant.
Automatic scan, if available, has been disabled.
Equipment is integral to Inmarsat-C, or separate.


  • EGC logs confirm reception to be satisfactory.
    There is no adverse electrical/magnetic interference from other
    equipment.


Inmarsat-C installation(s)

Each Inmarsat C installation will be checked to confirm that:
Make, type and serial numbers agree with the previous surveyor
with subsequent licence changes.
Units are type approved, CE-marked or wheel-marked.
Main and reserve power supplies are available and connected.
Maximum reserve current is as expected.


  • Manual/ automatic position update is available (passenger vessels must
    have automatic position update).
    Distress-alert buttons meet IMO requirements for availability and
    prevention of false alerts.
    Received mail/EGC logs confirm reception to be satisfactory.
    Antennas are fitted to meet Inmarsat speCifications for all-round
    viSibility.
    On-air checks with a Land Earth Station (LES) are satisfactory.

  • There is no adverse electrical/magnetic interference from other
    equipment.
