Survival Craft hand-held VHF radiotelephone transceiver(s)

Each survival craft hand-held VHF radio will be checked to confirm
that:
Make, type and serial numbers are as previously recorded or agree
with subsequent licence changes.


  • Units are type approved, CE-marked or wheel-marked.
    Rated RF output power is as expected.
    Equipment is satisfactory in all respects.
    Battery expiry dates have not been compromised.


The availability/absence of two-way bridge communications facilities
(using hand-held VHF radio equipment other than that provided for
survival craft use) will be recorded in the report.

Fast Rescue Craft (FRC) Helmets
FRC helmets will be tested for correct radio performance.

G PS position finding equipment...

G PS equipment will be checked to confirm that:
Make, type and serial numbers are as previously recorded.
Units are type approved, CE-marked or wheel-marked.
Main and reserve power supplies are available and connected.
Maximum reserve current is as expected.
Connections to GMDSS equipment (e.g. DSC units) and position
transfer to that equipment is satisfactory.
On-air reception checks are acceptable.
There is no adverse electrical/magnetic interference from other
equipment.

Navigation equipment

The survey will record the availability/type of:
Radar.
ARPA.
Direction finding equipment.
Homing devices.
fitted onboard the vessel.
