Journey to Journe
Caviar, rare spirits, Swiss watches and yachts come together
at the Kimpton Epic Hotel and Marina in Miami, where luxury
watchmaker FP Journe has opened a one-of-a-kind bar/
lounge and boutique. Bar Journe is open to the public but
reservations will guarantee front-row seating plus access to a
collection of rare spirits that includes Bacardi rum from the
1940s. Just outside the two-story atrium bar where watches
are also on display, is the Astondoa terrace and cigar lounge
overlooking the yachts cruising up and down the Miami River.
Browsing is not only welcome, it’s encouraged.

TENNESSEE BOUND

After decades in the Pacific
Northwest, where founder Dave
Christensen built his eponymous
brand, and a few tumultuous
years, Christensen Shipyards is
moving to Tellico Lake,
Tennessee. The move to a larger
facility located on 55 acres will
allow the builder to expand its
portfolio to include larger and
beamier yachts, says Christensen
president Jim Gilbert. For more,

Robert Braithwaite
1943-2019
In March, Sunseeker announced the death of its
founder, Robert Braithwaite (below). He began
his career selling boats produced in the US by
Owens Cruisers, eventually buying their
molds. He was the public face of the British
boatbuilder from the age of 26, when he
established the foundation for what would
become Sunseeker, to very recently. He was 75.
