Boat International US Edition – May 2019

Fiona Barratt-Campbell >

As befitting a former head of design for Kelly Hoppen,
Barratt-Campbell (pictured right), now principal of her
own practice, favors neutral base palettes and stresses
the importance of using different textures in her
projects. She relishes many aspects of a yacht’s
interior, “especially when it comes to designing
bespoke furniture. I love the challenge of integrated
storage and the opportunity to be playful, with lots of
hidden doors. The style absolutely has to remain
functional and practical.” fionabarrattinteriors.com

Suzanne Lovell

Lovell began as an architect at Skidmore, Owings
& Merrill before establishing her own studio in
Chicago in 1985 to specialize in residential design and
fine art advisory. “It’s second nature for us to integrate
fine art into a project,” says Kristin Murphy Romanski,
the company’s fine art director. One example is the
213ft Codecasa Eternity. “We conceptualized [it] as a
platform for a curated mobile art experience that
simultaneously promotes Bahamian artists [the yacht
is based in Nassau], while opening up the conversation
to include international names.” suzannelovellinc.com

Bryan O’Sullivan

O’Sullivan’s lengthy résumé includes spells with
Martin Brudnizki and David Collins in London, and
Annabelle Selldorf and Luis Laplace in New York, as
well as a portfolio of residential and hotel projects.
He had only recently set up his own studio – which
specializes in residential interiors – when he was
asked to work on Mosaique, a 164ft Dubois-designed
motor yacht, which he conceived as “a summer house
on the sea.” He’s now on his third. bos-studio.com

Taylor Howes

“What really excites us [about yachts],” says Helena
Lowry, director of London-based residential design
specialists Taylor Howes, “is that the balance between
form and function is at its most crucial in a yacht
[especially] when it comes to layout and spatial
planning. The needs of staff and services are as vitally
important as the comfort and enjoyment of the client,”
she says. Only once that balance has been perfected,
“can the ‘form’ or aesthetic be truly explored and
enjoyed.” taylorhowes.co.uk
