Compact industrial PC
The Automation PC 2200
is equipped with Intel
Atom processors from the
Apollo Lake generation and
is available in box PC and
panel PC formats. The com-
pact but full-fledged PC system comes with either dual or quad
core processors and offers fully scalable processing power.
Hypervisor enables the Runtime real-time operating system
to run simultaneously alongside Windows 10 IoT Enterprise or
Linux. The PC is suitable as an IoT gateway or as a full-fledged
edge controller or edge device. In its box PC format, it can be
equipped with an optional SDL4 interface to allow HMI panels
to be operated at distances of up to 100 m.

Multifunctional platform controller
The Simatic S7-1500 controller family has been extended to
include a multifunctional platform (MFP) device. The S7-1518-4
PN/DP MFP controller and a safety-integrated F version each
have a Linux-based PC in an S 7 PLC. In addition to standard
modular controller functions, the
MFP coordinates some PC functions
into the PLC runtime, including
merging of high-level language ap-
plication in C/C++ and controller pro-
gram on a single hardware platform;
synchronized C/C++ and open-source
coding and automation control;
model-based software development exporting control code
directly into the MFP; and database handling, custom protocol
integration and technological functions.

Compact fanless IPC
The MIC-7700 fanless IPC with an Intel Core i socket-type CPU
provides flexible expansion capability. The combination of
socket-type CPU and fanless design provides high-performance

computing ability while avoiding the
problem of dust accumulation. A
feature of fanless design is that it is si-
lent, which means that the IPC can be
used in noise-sensitive applications.
The product supports Microsoft Win-
dows 7 /10, Linux OS and Advantech’s
SUSIAccess remote management software
utility. It also supports 2 x GbE LAN; 8 x USB 3 .0 ports; 6 x serial
ports; triple displays; and various optional modules such as
two LANs, isolation COM and 3 2-bit GPIO modules.

Smart controller for Industry 4.0
The BB-400 NeuronEdge offers smart machine communication
with multiple ways to connect, an easy-to-use interface and
a design that uses a Raspberry Pi com-
pute module and Arduino to provide edge
processing. A power management system
supports the Pi, making it robust enough
for the demands of industry. It comes with
eight digital I/O lines, a detachable Wi-Fi
antenna, Bluetooth, UPS power manage-
ment and a reduction of redundant 5 -30
Vdc power supply. The compatible open-source software ben-
efits from the Linux and Raspbian development communities.

Industry 4.0-ready PLC + HMI + I/O
This all-in-one controller is available in two series: UniStream 7”
Built-in and UniStream 7 ” Built-in Pro. Both series support MQTT,
SNMP, VNC, FTP, SMS, email and communications via a GSM/
GPRS modem. The Pro version also offers a built-in Web server,
audio jack and video support, as well as SQL, which is useful for
system integrators and OEMs facing Industry 4 .0. This controller
line comprises an Ethernet-based remote I/O adapter and a range
of remote I/O modules, each offering a different configuration of
analog and digital I/O. The device’s
resistive color touchscreen reduces
space and wiring requirements and
eliminates the need to set up panel-
PLC communication.
