Enhanced control for dc installations
The DCS880 series of dc variable-speed drives (VSDs) provides
users with the option to continue using dc technology while
better aligning with ac advancements. The VSDs are built on
the company’s all-compatible, common
drive platform, sharing the same control
panel, features and tools as recent- and
future-generation ABB drives. They
also can be integrated with ABB Ability
monitoring services. Monitoring param-
eters include drive availability, environ-
mental conditions and fault events. The
drives feature built-in functions such
as safe torque off (STO), which prevents unexpected startup of
machinery. This protects people and equipment by reducing
risk during operation.

Wireless radar level transmitter
The Rosemount 3308 guided wave radar (GWR) wireless level
transmitter complies with the API 1 8.2 standard. An upgraded
microwave module has made it more tolerant to difficult pro-
cess conditions and therefore able to deliver a more sensitive
and repeatable measurement and higher
accuracy. API 1 8.2 requires level transmit-
ters to operate with 1 /8 in ( 3 mm) resolu-
tion and 3 /16 in (4.7 mm) measurement
accuracy, which the transmitter achieves
when set up in high-performance mode.
The top-mounted device is almost unaf-
fected by changing process conditions
such as density, conductivity, temperature and pressure. Be-
cause it does not have moving parts, no calibration is required.

Rear panel-mount IP 67 connector
The series 770 NCC product line includes a female panel-mount
connector. It is mounted from the back side of a panel and
fastened from the front with a hex nut. The connectors are
IP67-sealed when unmated. When the
panel-mount connector is mounted, it
can withstand washdowns and splashes
when a cable is not connected, making
the connector suitable for industrial ap-

plications in which spillages and cleanings are a regular part of
the environment.

Hybrid cable entry
With the KT-M cable grommet, built-in
plugs and installation jacks are integrated
directly into KEL, KEL-U or KEL-ER cable
entry strips. The grommet is suitable for
interfacing to signal, data, power or hybrid
connectors by screwing them into the
threads. Even hose fittings or pressure compensation elements
can be easily screwed to the grommet. The product is available
with inner threads of M 12 x 1 .0, M 16 x 1 .5, M 20 x 1 .5 and M 25 x
1.5. Alternatively, a blind grommet is available for special solu-
tions. The integrated polyamide body is completely closed on
one side. The effective area is 24 x 24 mm, and the wall thick-
ness is 6 mm.

Single-loop temperature controllers
SOLO basic temperature controllers provide single-loop control
for heating and cooling processes using a thermocouple or RTD
input signal and a relay, voltage pulse or current output signal
(depending on model). The 1 /16
DIN panel size basic controller op-
erates on 1 00- to 2 40-Vac 5 0-/60-Hz
input power. Two four-character
seven-segment LED displays
indicate process value (PV) and
setpoint value (SV), with red for PV
and green for SV (°F or °C selectable). These controllers are IP66-
rated for dust and waterjet ingress protection (inside suitable
enclosure) and have a 0 to 50 °C operating temperature range.

Direct-drive linear motors with built-in encoders
The SDLM-025-070-01-01 and SDLM-025-070-01-05 direct-drive
linear motors (also known as electric cylinders) have built-in
encoders and feature high acceleration, high speed, high reso-
lution, zero backlash and zero cogging. These compact motors
with quiet linear plain bearings are 1 in (25.4 mm) in diam-
eter and 2 .75 in (69.9 mm) long. Protected inside the motor
