In 1960 Alan Buchanan was persuaded to design a yacht very
similar to his own, also to be built by Priors, for a friend. SINBAD
was the result and she proved even faster than his own! SINBAD’s
recent former owner, an experienced yachtsman had her interior
sympathetically and cleverly reworked; replaced her sails; and
focused on all areas to make her a very usable family cruiser as
well as potent classic racer – and succeeded. Under her current
ownership SINBAD has wintered in recent years at the Elephant
boatyard, who in 2012 also fitted a new teak deck.

38ft Bristol Channel Pilot Cutter Replica 2011 37ft Alan Buchanan Sloop 1961
EDITH GRAY was built by John Raymond-Barker of RB
Boatbuilding Ltd in 2011 and was designed along the lines of the
smaller transom stern pilot cutters – inspiration was taken from
1887 BREEZE as well as DIARCHY of 1901. EDITH GRAY has
already proven herself to be extremely fast when raced in the pilot
cutter fleet often taking first in class and she has that magic blend
of function and simple beauty. She hits a “sweet spot” at 38 ft
and can be sailed short-handed yet accommodates 7 persons
with berths to spare. School fees have prompted recent price
reduction – she is truly an exciting prospect!

60ft Jack Laurent Giles Cutter 1956
Laurent Giles identified PAZIENZA as a ‘good example of
a comfortable shorthanded cruising boat with a first class
performance under power yet able to take part successfully in
ocean races.’ Giles achieved a seamless transition between
traditional and modern styling - PAZIENZA with her handsome
sheers and understated English good looks was nominated as
one of the most beautiful boats in France. The current owner and
family have successfully cruised and raced in Europe and the
Caribbean and PAZIENZA is just one of those boats that once
seen – she will always stay with you!

66ft Abeking & Rasmussen Yawl 1955
The name GERMANIA stands out among the most famous
of German sailing yachts – part of the fame deriving from the
importance of their owners; the Krupp family. GERMANIA V is
a wonderful bye product of her era – a yawl designed for ocean
racing but with ample accommodation for cruising. This yacht
remains incredibly original but is in fine condition as a result of
few owners and a careful maintenance regime. GERMANIA V
is a pearl and highly recommended whether you want to classic
race or quietly cruise as her current owners have done.

72ft Jack Laurent Giles Ketch 1957
Until Laurent Giles’s concept of the motor sailer, such vessels
had compromised on motoring or sailing; typically with poor
manoeuvrability, poor sailing qualities other than in strong winds
so usually requiring engine-on when under sail. It was Laurent
Giles who achieved the perfect blend of racing yacht hull profile
with the motor vessel superstructure. STAR SAPPHIRE carries
2,000 sq ft of sail to a very efficient design. In practice she offers
the stability and comfort of a sailing boat yet the predictability of
schedule under engine - a substantial refit 2005 to 2006 under the
guidance of her meticulous owner.

50ft Ashley Butler Mayflower Class Cutter 2012
Ashley Butler’s designs are inspired by the ergonomics, form
and function of the historic working craft of the British Isles.
Even on the most basic consideration of size, this hull form has
already proven ideal for family cruising – perhaps defining the
term Modern Classic with her carvel planking, long keel and
effortless charm. BONAVENTURE was commissioned by a
family who knew what they wanted and she is comfortably fitted
out to optimise space below – a significant price reduction makes
BONAVENTURE a very appealing option.
