9 I have yet to screw the floorboards down. A central spine of 2 × 2in supports the floor middle. I anticipate
setting the house on a level gravel base maybe topped with sand. Using planed pine for the floor ramped up the
cost, but I didn’t consider an alternative. Knees and splinters! I think maybe it should be waxed. I lost half a width
in a mistake and was then tight on materials. The back floorboard (of a deeper colour) was a piece of scrap that
I was using as a template. It was the perfect fit! More serendipity! I do like it when this sort of thing happens. It’s
like a pat on the back. It’s almost like forgiveness. You can see four silver hexagonal heads on the main uprights;
these are whacking great coach screws. I bought a box of them in a junk shop. Hadn’t used them ‘til now. Perfect!
