Thesehighlycovetedaccoladesarejudgedbyanelitepanelofcurrentand
formersuperyachtowners,whobringhundredsofyearsofcombined
experience to the table. They made more than 250 individual inspections of
the nominated yachts this year, and spent weeks poring over layouts, specs,
photos, videos and statements from key parties involved in each build.
BOAT International has no say in the outcome, which is the only way to
maintain the integrity of the process. But that doesn’t mean we can’t have
favorites, and I have to doff my cap to the owners of the converted cruise
liner Dream, George and Alexandra Prokopiou. They took the stage in
London to accept their prize – which was soon after nestled safely on board
their 350ft superyacht. A just reward for a decade’s labor to create their
