pantrywithanadditionaldishwasher,refrigeratorandawine

cooler.Spectatorsaren’tturnedawaythough–barchairs

adornthesparklingwhitequartziteisland–andallcanenjoy

theviewstoportoutofanaddedfull-lengthwindow.

TheHollyHuntteamembracedthevessel’sgeometryand

vistas.Forinstance,Westportusuallyincludesatrayceilingin

thesaloon.Zuletaaskedtoloweritinstead.“Hetoldme,‘Idon’t

wantpeopletocomeinandlookup.Iwantthemtolookout,’”

“It’sadesigntrickI’veusedbefore,”Zuletaconfirms.“Ilike

tocreateanelementofsurpriseanddiscoversomething

unexpected.Inthiscase,compressingtheinteriorforcesyou

tolookoutanddiscoverthevistas.”

Theasymmetricalmainsaloonceilingalsoservestodefine

thespaces.Onthestarboardside,whichturnsintothe

passagewaytothegalleyandmastercabin,theceilingis

elevated;thewindowmullionsaredesignfeaturesthatflow

fromsoletooverhead,revealingthecurveofthehull.Therest

oftheoverheadislow,subtlymakingamoreintimatespace

aroundtheloungearea.“Thetensionbetweenthetwois

highlightedbyindirectlighting,”Zuletasays.

Thedesignofferssurprisesateveryturn.Forinstance,

openingthemutedgreyoakmillworkinthediningarea

revealsabrightorangeinside.“Itmakesyousmile.Wewanted

toinfusethatindifferentareas,”Zuletasays.

Theteamalsomadesomelayoutchangestothemaster

cabinonthemaindeck.Bypushingthebulkheadforward

betweenthecabinandthehis-and-hersbathrooms,extra

spacewasmadetoupgradethehanginglockerstowalk-in

wardrobes. In thisroom, Zuleta createdsomething

“nurturing”initsgeometry.“That’swhyyouhavealotof

curveswithinthespace.”

Fluiditywasakeyconceptonboard.“Youfollowthe

continuousgeometrywithyoureye,fromthedresserto

thewindowstotheceiling

and the headboard to

the nightstands and the

bed frame; it ties all

thosecomponentstogether,”

Zuletasays.
