THE SUM OF AUDIO INNOVATION

combat marine fouling and protect coastal
ecosystems.
In 2018 Oceanmax launched Lightspeed,
the first transparent foul-release coating for
underwater lights and received recognition from
the METSTRADE DAME design awards, the most
significant equipment competition in the industry.
Managing director of Fusion Entertainment,
Chris Baird, says the company has had another
strong year in growth globally with exceptional sales
from America and across the whole of Europe.
“The penetration into OEMs has continued
with the release of several new products, such as
the ‘Apollo’ series that have won five international
awards and counting,” says Baird.
He added that they were expecting a bit of
a slowdown in 2019 but quite the opposite has
happened and with a third of the year gone, they
are already up by about 15% YTD. Baird added that
this is exceptional when they are already seen as the
number one marine entertainment company.
“It is, however, critical to continue our product
development and to chase all new opportunities
while the marine markets are still strong,” says Baird.

ENERTEC MARINE LTD’S Juice Pro Series Lithium Ion
batteries have been designed to meet the demanding needs
and regulatory standards of the marine industry. Designed
in conjunction with the Electrical Engineering Department at
Auckland University, Juice Li-Ion batteries offer a Lithium Ion
energy storage solution for service and electric propulsion
batteries aboard both private and commercial vessels.
“A number of unique features set Juice Li-Ion
batteries apart, such as their independent control over load
and charge sources, and an inbuilt self-test system that can
test the correct functionality of the battery and associated
componentry to ensure optimum performance,” says Enertec
Marine’s Jeremy Peacock.

Hella Marine is a leading LED lighting
manufacturer that designs and manufactures marine
specific lighting solutions for the marine from its
dedicated electronics and production facilities in
New Zealand sector, 80% of the products made in
New Zealand are exported through the global Hella
network and dedicated marine distributors in over 35
different countries (See Hella Marine sidebar p70).
As Fastmount celebrates its 15th year of designing
and manufacturing hidden panel mounting systems,
the business continues to see fantastic growth,
on both a product and sales basis. With 38 SKU's
across seven product ranges and 31 distributors
representing the company worldwide, Fastmount
has seen an average 15% increase per annum over the
past five years and a healthy 22% increase in the year
ending 2018 (See Fastmount sidebar p70).

TRAILER BOAT MARKET STEADY
Recent figures released by NZ Marine shows a
continuous growth (2012-2017) of new boat trailer
registrations. For the 2018 year 8,538 boat trailers
were registered, only 52 units less than the previous
year’s 8,590 registrations, a 1% decrease.
In 2018, the same as in the previous year, 94% of
all new boat trailers registered in New Zealand were
produced by domestic manufacturers – and only 6%
were imported. The peak season for registrations
is September through to December. During 2018,
the vast majority of buyers (89%) chose to purchase
brand-new boat trailers (or buy new boats) rather
than refurbishing an existing trailer/boat package
and/or re-registering existing boat trailers. For 2018,
almost 40 % of all new trailer boat registrations were
in the Auckland region, followed by Tauranga on 9%
and both Hamilton and Christchurch with 8%.

JUICED WITH ENERTEC Peacock adds that the Juice Pro Series Li-Ion batteries
have been available in NZ for over three years and have
been enjoying the technology shift from traditional battery
chemistries to the significant advantages offered by
Lithium Ion.
“Given New Zealand’s highly knowledgeable boating
public, sales of Juice batteries have grown rapidly enabling
us to focus sales on overseas markets.”
After displaying at METSTRADE in 2018 and receiving
considerable amounts of interest, a distribution partner
was found in Europe to introduce and establish the brand
in the European market. Designed to be easily retrofitted
into existing systems, Juice batteries lend themselves to
either new builds or existing vessels.
