t is no secret that we work until the last minute to build our flagship vehicle for the
Ultimate Adventure each year. The 2018 Derange Rover was no exception. We don’t
recommend trying to put together an entire vehicle before a trip of this magnitude, but
having support from companies like Dana, Cummins, Offroad Design, and Skyjacker defi-
nitely helps take the guesswork out of the process. Still, we aren’t immune from break-
age and mechanical issues. The important part is knowing how to deal with them.
When the actuating fork wasn’t engaging the front locker in our Ultimate Dana 60
front axle, Chris Durham fired up his Premier Power Welder to lock the fork into posi-
tion. When time allowed, we fixed the differential at home, but we ran all of the Ultimate
Adventure like this, unlocking the Warn hubs on the pavement so the locked differential
