Ed Wahl’s Legacy Marine undertook a mix of exterior re-
pairs and interior joinery this year, with the focus on join-
ery. One extensive exterior repair job was the 57-ft seiner
seamaster(1977, Tristar Marine). Wahl repaired the port-
side forward bulwarks, replanked all the bulwarks, renewed
several upper deck planks, replaced eight stanchions and
some beam ends, renewed 25 percent of the foredeck, and
caulked and finished the new work. Another job saw him
replace some planks under the guards on the 46-ft troller
karen O (1963, Menchions) (photos above and right).
Interior joinery projects included the E.D. stone (1949,
Star Shipyards) a 55-ft tug now used as a yacht. Ron
Gisbourne of Gisbourne Marine Services commissioned
Wahl to raise the saloon dinette and improved access to the

accommodation in the forecastle. Wahl also built a new in-
terior for the 34-ft tug saBre (1961, Star Shipyards). The tug
recently received a new deckhouse at Shelter Island, and
Wahl installed cherry laminate interior with sapele mahog-
any trim throughout (photo at left). Another smaller job
saw Wahl constructing a teak dashboard and compass shelf
for Gord Hamanishi’s 48-ft troller sPringfeverno.1 (1979,
Sather). The troller was featured in the May 2019 issue of
Western Mariner. –D.C.
