ngine reliability is a key
issue for owners of classic
vehicles; we have become
used to contemporary
standards of reliability and it is nice
to achieve this in older vehicles
too, especially when they are used
for longer runs. When an engine is
tuned it is particularly important
to build in reliability and longevity

Tuning the 1275cc
A-series engine
This is a fully prepared
cylinder block which has
been correctly offset-
bored.The best thing
about this conversion is
that a 73.5mm (1380cc)
bore can be used which
does not compromise
head gasket reliability.
ABOVE: The steel billet 86mm-stroke crank is manufactured by Arrow Precision for
MED. It is made from high strength EN40B steel and nitride hardened to a depth of
0.020”. It is supplied fully balanced and has extra large ‘C’ shaped counter balance
webs to reduce vibrations and main bearing loadings at high rpm.
