A-series engine tuners, MED, offers
component upgrades including the
all-important stronger crankshafts.
The billet cranks are nitrided EN40B
steel and can be used to produce
anything from a standard capacity
A-series through to a 1460cc engine,
for both inline and transverse
applications. No block modifications
(or gearbox casing mods for
transverse engines) are required and
the engines are both exceptionally
strong and reliable. Even the stroked
1460cc A-series engine will safely

alloy Vernier timing gear set, to
allow timing alterations, with the
cam sprocket assembly machined
from 7075 aerospace alloy. The
crankshaft sprocket is CNC-
machined from steel and the chain
is designed to be non-stretching.

ABOVE: An alloy timing plate is being
fitted to this engine. It looks nice and
saves on weight but is only suitable for
transverse A-series engines.
