romley Pageant of
Motoring, sponsored by

returned to Norman
Park, in the suburbs of South
London, on 23 June 2019.
This is a huge event, spread over
two fields, with one field dedicated
to one-make parking/individual
displays, and the second to club
stands, live arena, trade village and
the all-important autojumble. It was
the latter that saw some very happy
showgoers finding great treasure
in amongst the piles of rusty bits.
With the suburban access roads to
navigate, it’s the kind of show where
exhibitors arrive very early. Thankfully,

due to a welcome break in the UK’s
precipitation-laden summer, it was ice
creams all round and lots of people
were milling around and catching up
with friends late into the afternoon.
This event attracts myriad car
types, from a tiny bubble car to a huge
American custom car, with everything
new and old inbetween. There

really is something for all tastes.
Bromley Pageant has become a
firm fixture in the classic car calendar
and it’s fascinating to see how it
has evolved over the years. Going by
comments we heard this year there
were a lot of happy attendees. We
look forward to next year’s event.Individual displays produced a
great selection of MGs including
these late, rubber bumper Bs.Steve Denner’s MG Metro 6R4 replica caught our eye, equipped now
with a RWD, turbocharged Honda B18 engine and sequential gearbox.
