Event
n 9 June 2019, the
Oxfordshire MGOC held
its 21st anniversary
running of MGs in the
Park, at the Cotswold Wildlife Park,
in Oxfordshire. As organisers, we
knew we had to make the event
better than ever, particularly after our
friends in the MGCC had been dealt
a terrible blow with the cancellation
of MG Live at the 11th hour. We were
already the largest free MG event in
the country (free to MG drivers) but
now we would be the biggest MG
gathering anywhere in Great Britain!
We tried our best. With 17 trade
stands in our Trader’s Village, there
was everything an MG enthusiast
could possibly wish to browse and buy.
We were pleased to welcome them
all from Rimmer Brothers, Martin
Smith, Just Right Autos, specialist
tuning firms, rust control, customised
lighting, alternative body panels to
MGs on Track and, of course, a big
stand from the MG Owners Club itself.
With a dry day we welcomed
around 500 visiting MGs, although
the terribly wet weather all around
we feel lowered the overall visitor
numbers, compared to previous years.
MG Car Club’s Kimber House
kindly opened up early to allow
O
which were so good that we think
he should be on the telly!
We were lucky to have so many
club members give up their time to
help make the show as enjoyable as
it was and we are also indebted to
our hosts, Cotswold Wildlife Park,
whose generosity is truly outstanding.
It is this that allows us to make the
event free to every MG driver.
The money we did raise, by running
the very popular ‘Pride of Ownership’
competition and our now famous Mega
Raffle, has gone to the club’s chosen
charities: Oxfordshire Association
for the Blind, Crohns & Colitis UK
and Prostate Cancer UK sharing the
expected £1000 the club has to collect.
With the positive feedback we
have received, we are determined to
make MGs in the Park in 2020 just as
memorable as this year’s event.
