quila is an American brand
best known for its range of
attractive mid-size power
catamarans. However, its
smaller outboard powered cats
are an interesting prospect too.
Taking advantage of the latest generation of
powerful, light and very refi ned Mercury Verado
outboards, they offer more deck and living
space than their monohull rivals. The Aquila 32,
for example, is 1ft wider than a
Greenline NEO of similar length.
This translates into a beamy and very
versatile main deck with seating from
stern to stem, most of which fl ips and
folds depending on whether you’re
cruising, dining or sunbathing.
The deep hulls have enough
space for generous sleeping
quarters with a double cabin
and bathroom accessed via separate
stairways from the main deck.
For lazing about at anchor the
32 is hard to beat with its mix of
comfortable reclined seating in the
bow, optional hard top and a clever
cockpit arrangement which leads out
to a fantastic submersible bathing
platform. This wraps right round the
outboards and features a folding set of
steps that automatically tilts down with
the platform for easy access to the water.
Substantial rails around the outboards
add extra protection and provide a
handhold when moving around at the stern.
There is the option of twin 225hp,
250hp or 300hp motors, with the
highest powered ones good for
just under 40 knots. The 32 is a
left fi eld option but it offers a lot
in a tidily put together package.
