fisherman (Fred Steynberg immediately
comes to mind) spends hours on moving
water and has perfected his short game.
Eliminating drag with an emerger or dry,
getting a nymph down to the depth you
want, or accurately throwing a streamer
right against the bank and fishing it

area and focus on what he is teaching you
and showing you to catch fish. For ex-

on the Vaal River, it was all about getting
the clients into fish and Czech nymphing

progressed we started to give more to the
client from an instruction point of view.
After a few fish with the Czech style of
fishing, we would then move them on
to indicator nymphing at short and long
