G

uy Nowell, Suzy Rayment and Nic Boyde have released
Cruising Hong Kong, a beautiful volume of photographs and
informative text to remind cruising sailors that there’s a great
deal more to Hong Kong than a few weekend destinations.
“It has been 40 years since Richard Hownam-Meek published
Afloat in Hong Kong,” said Nowell. “We felt a celebration of Hong
Kong’s unique and stunning cruising grounds was long overdue.”

C

amper and Nicholsons International (C&N) has
announced a technology merger with Hong Kong-
based Nowboat that will see the launch of an online
platform delivering bespoke experiences and data
to industry stakeholders including owners, brokers, shipyards
and guests.
The platform has been designed by a dedicated team of
software engineers in C&N’s Monaco headquarters. By the
fourth quarter of this year, it will be accessible across all
platforms and devices.
The platform will distil yacht intelligence including fuel
usage, marina logs, staff profiles, search history and social
media presence into one simple-to-use tool with solutions for all
stakeholders including customers, yacht owners, brokers and Captains.
The first step of the merger was the launch of the brand-new C&N
website, which offers interactive imagery and a live chat option.
Bespoke itineraries from the Adriatic to Southeast Asia have been
crafted with leading travel journalists, while richer content, from drone
footage to 360-degree onboard videos, will lend depth to each yacht for
sale and charter.
Lester Lam, Chairman of C&N Asia, said: “This company has
delivered yachts to royalty, celebrities and racing legends since 1782,
and its pioneering spirit has kept the company ahead of the pack.
“We have worked on several structural updates to equip the
company for the radical market and customer behaviour changes we
are facing. This new platform, the first of its kind in the business, is a
continuation of our pioneering spirit.”

Cruising Hong Kong shows how much there is to see outside the city.

From the Soko Islands in the far southwest to Double Haven away
to the northeast, Hong Kong and its 365 islands present a multitude
of sightseeing trips, anchorages and overnight stops. For day-tripping
junk charters, often the first question from the Captain as they go
aboard is “where do you want to go?” This book has the answers.
Geology, history and even food are all covered, as is easily accessible
information about safety at sea, speed limits, marine regulations, charts,
weather, how to charter a yacht (or even buy one) and
where to learn more about boating or learn to sail.
Roger Eastham, former Marine Manager at
Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, wrote: “Cruising
Hong Kong will fill a gaping hole in any Hong
Kong boating enthusiast’s bookshelf. While this
is a visual treat, this is much more than a coffee
table publication. The book is packed with
practical information and as such is a ‘must have’
for anyone interested in boating in Hong Kong.”
Cruising Hong Kong is available from the
publisher, Asia Yacht Press.

WITH NOWBOAT

Giovanni Alessi, who joined C&N from Nowboat as Chief
Innovation and Technology Officer, added: “By 2020 the global
superyacht market will be worth $35 billion*, but technology and data
from all stakeholders is managed in an extremely hazardous way. For
example, information from brokers, clients and shipyards is stored in
Word documents, email archives and handwritten notes or through
third-party service providers.
“Camper & Nicholsons holds market intelligence dating back 240
years. By collating and sifting that information, we can provide a data-
driven solution to almost every industry query.”
