espite its 2008 vintage, this still looks a
modern yacht, which says a lot for Umberto
Felci's timeless design credentials.
Under founder Michele Dufour, the company
was known for performance cruisers but after
changes of ownership and a management buy-
out, those cruisers now comprise about 90 per
cent of Dufour's output, with its Performance
range taking the remainder.
The Grand Large cruisers are intended to have
wide appeal, as epitomised by this 365 GL which
comes equipped for club racing with an extensive
suit of sails for its deck-stepped alloy mast.
These include a North mainsail, three genoas
and a spinnaker (plus upgraded 50 S/T primary
winches and spinnaker pole). For cruising you
will find a recent North furling headsail.
Given its dual roles, the 365 GL's cockpit has
to be versatile, so in race mode those upgraded
primary winches and jammers on the saloon top
are used, while in cruise mode the mainsheet
track is handily located there as well, leaving the
rest of the cockpit free.
At the single wheel there's a binnacle with
compass and throttle nearby, while the saloon
bulkhead houses the instruments.
The Lewmar steering wheel conveniently folds,
allowing clear access to the transom exit which

leads down to the water; thus the 365GL is an
ideal warm water boat.
A barbecue on the aft rail is yet another bonus
on this particular example which also boasts a
recent bimini and substantial electric windlass for
secure anchoring.

UNUSUAL FORE BERTH
Down below, three cabins and one large
bathroom ensure the 365 GL can easily host a
large family (or six race crew).
Unusually, the bow berth has the mattress
offset to starboard which creates a useful open
space to port and lockers around it for stowage of
cruising essentials.
In the saloon, the open plan layout allows
several cooks to converge in the longitudinal port
galley, which has a twin burner stove with deep
sink and fridge.
The hot water system will also be appreciated
in the shower cubicle which shares the bathroom
with the manual head.
Opposite the galley, the U-shaped saloon with
dinette table is ideally placed and portlights give
natural light.
Notable also is the large navigation station
behind the saloon with bulkheads ideally placed
for holding the plotter and other electronics.
