R

iviera continues to raise the bar with its
flybridge sports motor yachts and a new
64-foot model joins 68 and 72-foot sister
ships in the flagship range next year.
The recently announced Riviera 64 Sports
Motor Yacht is aimed at giving boating
enthusiasts – particularly bluewater cruising
couples – the long-term liveability and luxury
they desire in a 21-metre model.
Exterior looks have been ramped up to include
a sleek black roof and window mullions that
contrast with that gleaming white hull, while
angled hull windows mirror the saloon glass.
There’s a choice of three or four staterooms, a
covered mezzanine dining area, gourmet galley,
internal staircase, pantograph door to the side
decks, and a fresh foredeck design that cradles
a tender before transforming into a spacious
lounging zone.
In fact, the inclusions read like a wishlist for
bluewater cruisers, because that’s exactly what
inspired the 64, according to owner Rodney
Longhurst. “The research and refinement process
extended to building a full-scale mock-up in our
facility and consulting with some of our most
experienced owners,” he said.

AFT DECK OPTIONS
What really struck us upon viewing the first
images of this yacht was the clever separation of
luxurious mezzanine entertaining deck and the
more utilitarian aft deck.
The former includes an L-shaped day lounge
on port, served by an optional icemaker, while an
overhead recess houses a flip-down TV.
Opposite is another lounge area for al fresco
dining around a drop-leaf teak table and this
whole deck can be enclosed with optional
clears and serviced by air-conditioning for
maximum comfort.
Down a couple of steps is a wetbar with
190-litre refrigerator and 100-litre icebox, right
next to twin barbecue plates and sink, which are
themselves conveniently located next to a tackle
locker – the path for fish from ocean to hotplate
could not be clearer.

The separation of the teak-clad entertaining
zone and the lower deck with its non-skid surface
offers the possibility of fitting a game chair
on this Riv without impacting your al fresco
socialising options.
Pelagic party down the back, while your guests
look on and offer encouraging words from the
comfort of their lounges – that sort of thing...

PARTY AT THE FRONT
Once you’re anchored up with the tender in the
water, the foredeck transforms into an enviable
entertaining area.
Enjoy comfortable fold-away lounges that
seat eight guests, all within reach of ice boxes,
while a four-speaker sound system provides the
soundtrack.
There's even the option of a sun awning –
it’s inspired thinking by Riviera, utilising what
used to be unused space on the majority of
flybridge cruisers.
Back inside, the aft galley makes life easy for
entertainers with full-height refrigerator plus
two freezer drawers, adjacent to a three-burner
electric cooktop, plus Miele dishwasher and
microwave convection oven.
Further forward, next to the internal stairwell,
two more under-bench refrigerators nestle
against a 27-bottle wine fridge and glass storage.

Descending to the accommodation deck, the
VIP stateroom in the forepeak enjoys views from
large topside windows, and the guest stateroom
on port features twin berths that slide to form a
double at the touch of a button.
Directly opposite is a fourth stateroom
sporting double bunks, or this room can be
optioned as an atrium lounge
A wide companionway leads aft to the full-
beam master stateroom, which is bathed in light
from large windows and features a central
king-sized bed.
A doorway leads to a large laundry with
separate washer and dryer – handy for those
offshore for weeks at a time.

FLYBRIDGE VIEWS
The upper deck of this new 64 sees the helm
chair positioned along the centreline, with a
companion seat on starboard.
An L-shaped leather lounge fills out the rest
of the skylounge and of course, there’s a fridge
nearby, plus a clever fold-out double bed to
provide additional guest accommodation.
The aft balcony completes the picture of
another thoughtfully-conceived sports yacht from
the winning team at Riv and we’re sure looking
forward to jumping on board when the 64 SMY
hits the water next year.
