MOST ACES SERVED IN A WOMEN’S
OLYMPIC VOLLEYBALL MATCH
Ekaterina Kosianenko served eight aces during Russia’s
25–13, 25–10, 25–16 victory against Argentina at Rio 2016
on 6 Aug. Setter Kosianenko, who plays for Dinamo Moscow,
went one better than Zoila Barros and Yanelis Santos (both
CUB), who hit seven aces in matches lasting five sets.

the podium aged 15 years
300 days. Ito had won the
women’s singles title at the

Tennis Federation (ITTF)
World Tour German Open
aged 14 years 152 days,
making her the youngest
winner of an ITTF World
Tour singles title.

WORLD OPEN SQUASH CHAMPIONSHIP
Egypt’s Nour El Sherbini (b. 1 Nov 1995, above right) was
aged 20 years 181 days when she won the Women’s World
Championship in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 30 Apr 2016.
El Sherbini – who in 2009 became the youngest ever
World Junior Champion when she won the title at the age
of 13 – came from two sets down to defeat world No.1
Laura Massaro (UK) 6–11, 4–11, 11–3, 11–5, 11–8.

MOST AUSTRALIAN RULES FOOTBALL GAMES PLAYED
On 30 Jul 2016, North Melbourne’s Brent Harvey surpassed
the legendary Michael Tuck (both AUS) when he made
his 427th appearance in the AFL. By the season’s close
on 10 Sep, Harvey had increased his total to 432 games.
He made his debut in Round 22 of the 1996 season, aged
18 years 112 days. Over the course of his career, “Boomer”
scored 518 goals and 334 behinds, achieved 1,689 marks
and ran an estimated 7,300 km (4,536 mi) on the pitch.

Brent Harvey
announced his
retirement from AFL
football on 7^ Oct
2016,
after North Melbourne
refused to renew his
contract. Harvey
planned to stay on
at the club in a
mentoring role.
