FASTEST 10 M
ON A WALKING GLOBE
BY A DOG
A dog named Sailor
covered a distance of 10 m
(32 ft) on a walking globe
in 33.22 sec on 5 Feb 2016.
The event took place in the
gymnasium at Hawthorn
Middle School South in
Vernon Hills, Illinois, USA.
On the same occasion,
the well-balanced Sailor
also performed the
fastest backwards 10 m
on a walking globe by a
dog, in a time of 17.06 sec.

LARGEST DOG YOGA CLASS
Link Asset Management Ltd (HKG) assembled 270 canine
participants and their owners for a yoga class on 17 Jan 2016
in Stanley Plaza, Hong Kong, China. Part of the Paws by the
Sea event, the proceeds of which went to the Hong Kong
Guide Dogs Association,
the class was overseen by
“doga” (dog yoga) instructor
Suzette Ackermann (HKG).
On 28 Sep 2014, at the
same venue, Link Asset
Management Ltd set a
new record for the most
dogs balancing a treat
on their nose. A total of
109 animals proved their
canine dexterity.

TALLEST LIVING DOG
When measured on 13 Sep 2016, in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, UK,
Freddy the Great Dane was found to be 1.035 m (3 ft 4.75 in)
tall. Freddy’s owner is Claire Stoneman (pictured). Ironically,
when he was born, Freddy was the smallest puppy in the
litter, but then underwent an unexpected growth
spurt. Unfortunately for Claire, Freddy has a soft
spot for leather sofas: he’d chomped through
14 of them within 18 months of
arriving at her home!

TALLEST
DOMESTIC CAT
(LIVING)
Arcturus Aldebaran
Powers is 48.4 cm
(1 ft 7 in) tall to the
shoulders, as verified
in Ann Arbor, Michigan,
USA, on 3 Nov 2016.
Remarkably, his owners,
William and Lauren Powers,
own another record-
breaking feline. Their
silver Maine Coon named
Cygnus has the longest
tail on a domestic cat
(living). It measured
44.6 cm (1 ft 5.5 in) in
Ferndale, Michigan, USA,
on 28 Aug 2016.
It costs around
£4,000 ($5,090) a year
to feed Freddy. But as a
young pup, “Freddy was such a
poor eater,” remembers Claire.
“I tried everything. I suspect
I rather spoiled him!”
