Hillbilly Homes LIFESTYLE

Dear Jonno,
We recently bought a stand
near Bela-Bela in Limpopo.
It’s in a semi-urban area and
would require house plans
to be approved. The site is
level and 0,6ha in extent.
We’re looking to build
a three-bedroom home of
150m² plus a double garage.
The house will face north,
with a long, 3m- wide
veranda along the front.
We want an open-plan
living room/kitchen and
two bathrooms, with one
en suite. The house will be
built with concrete blocks
and have a gable-ended roof,
possibly of slate, as there
are slate quarries nearby.
Kind regards,
Ed and Gill

Dear Ed and Gill,
Thanks for the request for your
new home. The layout I’ve come
up with is as per your description.
The living area with a lounge
and living room lends itself to
a quiet side lounge, and a more

active side (living room), with
kitchen and outside dining table
close at hand. A braai can also be
located behind the garage wall.
The two bedrooms located on the
north side will enjoy the sunshine.

I would suggest that, with
the long front veranda, the
roof be interspersed with
polycarbonate sheeting in
place of slate tiles. This will let
the radiant sunshine through

to heatupthehomeduring
thecoldwintermonths.

Kindregards,
