Inaugural Toronto AES Expo

Brings Out Top Brands &

Professionals

On June 19, 2019, the Toronto chapter of the Au-
dio Engineering Society (AES) hosted its first-ever
Toronto AES Expo19 at the CBC Broadcasting
Centre. The free, focused-attendance gear exhibi-
tion showcased hundreds of brands for attendees
from all sectors of the pro audio industry while
the AES Networking Lounge presented ample
opportunity to make connections.
Another popular feature of the show was
the career centre, hosted by Professional Sound
magazine, where attendees could get leads on
available pro audio jobs across Canada. As well,
Canadian loudspeaker manufacturer Adamson
Systems Engineering held a career fair. James Ol-
iver, Adamson’s director of marketing and sales,
presented an overview on the company and
covered the career opportunities available.
The exhibition floor was steadily busy throughout the day and many exhibitors were enthusiastic about the turnout and the professional
quality of attendees. Also, Toronto AES hosted ongoing live interviews with members via its Facebook page.

2019 AV Industry Outlook and Trends Analysis (IOTA) report by AVIXA. Overall, the demand for pro AV products and services
is driven by rising GDP across much of the globe because the pro AV industry provides solutions to nearly all facets of the
economy, according to the organization. For the first time, the new IOTA report includes additional data from distributors
and integrators to track the amount of markup over the manufacturer price that is applied by the pro AV channel. In 2019,
markups are projected to represent an additional $22 billion in revenues globally, before accounting for services revenue.
