hasbeenafive-yearadventureindelvinginto
details,exploringalloptions,understanding
everycomponentandvisitingeverysupplier.
Itwasanexhaustiveprocessbutonetheywere
willingtoundertake–infactwereexpectingto
undertake–togetexactlytheyachttheywanted.
Danhasfondchildhoodmemoriesofacanal
boatholidaywithhisfamilyintheUKwhilehis
fatherwasresearchingabook.Hisownfamily
boat, however,wasmoresubstantial –the
51-metreOceancoLadyS,nowLazyZ,designed
byRichardHeinandbuiltin1997.Twoyears
laterSnyderboughttheWashingtonRedskins
NFLfranchiseand,knowingthattakingoverthe
team’sownershipwouldbeanall-consuming
venture,hesoldthefirstLadyStoafriend.
Tosatisfyhisgrowingfamily’sinterestinbeing
onthewater,theycharteredfrequently.In 2011
theyreturnedtoyachtownership,purchasingthe
68.5-metrecustomAmelsLadyAnnePB.They
didtwosmallrefitsonthisLadyS,whichleft
themwondering,“Wouldn’titbegreattodoone
ofthesefromthebeginning?”
TheSnydersareayoungandenergeticcouple- at31,DanwastheyoungestCEOofanNYSE-
tradedcompany,andat 34 theyoungestownerof
anAmericanfootballfranchise–andtheirtaste
isdecidedlymodern,moresothanLadyAnnePB,
withherWalterFranchini-designedoakinterior,
wouldindicate.Oneoftheyachtsthathad
attractedSnyder’sinterestwasthe95-metre
Palladium,byMichaelLeachDesign.
“Hedidn’twantanotherPalladium,that’snot
hisstyle,”explainsLeachaswewalkthroughthe
newLadySduringthehurrieddaysoffinal
outfitting.“Hehadstrongideasaboutwhathe
wantedinacustomyacht.He’sasix-star
entertainerandhewantedtofitinasmuchas
possibleandstaybelow3,000GT.Itwouldhavea
bigpool,bigtenders,ahelipadandatheatre.”
