5 points for each yes
(yes to any of these should prompt an adrenal test)
Do you suffer from chronic pain?
Do you suffer from low blood sugar/hypoglycemia?
(i.e., headaches, sleepiness, mood swings if skipping meals)
Do you suffer from insomnia?
Do you experience symptoms of PMS? (breast tenderness,
abdominal cramping, heavy periods, mood swings)
Are you menopausal or perimenopausal? (skipped periods,
between 45 and 55 years old, hot flashes, vaginal dryness)
If your score is >10, you probably have some degree of adrenal dysfunction.
If your score is >20, it is highly probably you have adrenal dysfunction.
If your score is >30, it is nearly certain you have adrenal dysfunction.
Blood Pressure Test
People with adrenal fatigue often have low blood pressure or a drop in
blood pressure after standing up from a lying or sitting position (ortho-
static hypotension).
If your blood pressure is below 120/80, this may mean your adrenals are
underactive or you are dehydrated.
Orthostatic Hypotension: While lying down or sitting, relax and deep-
breathe for at least five minutes. Then measure your blood pressure and
stand up and measure it again. Normally, you would see a rise in blood
pressure. If you see a drop in blood pressure, you may be dehydrated or
have underactive adrenals. Symptoms include dizziness or lightheaded-
ness when standing up from a sitting or lying position.
Pupil Contraction
People with low adrenal function often have difficulty contracting their
pupils. Usually, our pupils dilate (enlarge) in the dark and contract
(shrink) in the light.
