New foods should be introduced every three days, starting with ones that
are well-cooked and the easiest to digest.
We begin with bone and meat broths with well-cooked meats and veg-
etables that are puréed, gradually introducing more solid foods while we
continue the healing broths.
The diet can be jumpstarted with an elemental diet for one to seven days,
which allows the digestive system and intestines to rest and regenerate.
This diet is akin to a “baby food diet,” one you might use to introduce
new foods to a baby. This is because, like babies’ intestines, the intestines
of many Hashimoto’s patients are permeable.
