saunas, hot baths, or my favorite, hot yoga. Brushing the skin may also
be helpful with eliminating toxins.
Colon
Elimination of toxins also occurs through the gastrointestinal tract. When
we are detoxifying, the toxins may not always clear out efficiently from
our bowel, and we may become backed up. Enemas and colon cleanses
may help with toxin elimination, especially for those who are more on
the constipated side.
Cleansing the colon supports detoxification and stimulates the liver to
dump bile. It is especially important for those not having regular bowel
movements.
The use of enemas and colonics may aid in increasing waste elimination
and reducing the unpleasant symptoms associated with detoxing that oc-
cur because the body is not clearing toxins quickly enough.
Enemas can be performed at home, while colonics are administered by
specially trained colon hydrotherapists who use sterilized equipment to
introduce fluid into the colon to irrigate it.
Lymphatic System
The lymph system is also responsible for transporting toxins around the
body and facilitating their elimination. Increasing lymphatic flow consists
of lifestyle modifications almost everyone enjoys, including bouncing on a
trampoline (or mini-trampoline), massages, and inversion exercises such as
my favorite yoga pose, the Shoulder Stand. Woohoo!
Massage Therapy
A wonderfully relaxing detoxification tool, massage therapy helps with tis-
sue cleansing. Massage induces the release of toxins from tissues and fa-
cilitates their elimination. It turns the extracellular matrix from a jelly-like
substance into a more liquid state, allowing for easier elimination.
Remember to drink plenty of pure water before and after a massage to fur-
ther enhance your elimination and replenish your body’s supply of water.
Halogen Detox
Halogens are more likely to accumulate in the case of iodine deficiency.
However, we know that iodine itself acts as a trigger for Hashimoto’s and
can perpetuate the autoimmune attack.
