HAMPSHIRE IN VIEW

Starting from the age of eight,
Luke Parkinson’s passion and
talent in photography was
recognised very quickly. In 2012,
he was shortlisted in the British
Wildlife Photography Awards
and Young Wildlife Photographer
of the Year; one being UK based
and one Worldwide. Now 24, still
living in the New Forest and being
surrounded by horses, although
not a confident rider, his love
for them is shown through his
photography. He says, “To feel a
connection between me and the
horse helps produce the results
that I do. Working around the
horse, I need to be sure I have their
full trust and they have mine. The
horses can get quite bored during
the shoot, however it’s amazing

how inquisitive and alert they
become when you have a bucket of
nuts or a packet of polos!”
Luke has had two exhibitions,
one at Southampton City Gallery
and one at Lloyds TSB in his
hometown of Lymington. He has
also received three prestigious,
internationally recognised
photographic qualifications, those
being a Licentiate of the Royal and
National Photographic Societies
and “Qualified” status with the
Guild of Photographers (Q, LRPS
and LNPS)
