“In this super-speedy world of image-based
delivery, I find trends themselves becoming
obsolete! What I feel a lot of my clients
are relating to is ‘beautiful’ – that kind of
hard-to-put-your-finger-on beautiful because
everyone’s version of it is so different. But
classically beautiful, contemporary beautiful
and poetically beautiful are the kind of
things that I think we are resonating with.
People are self-aware thanks to our digital
age, and this makes for potent, fabulous
decorating and design gestures. Trends
might be made by everyday people rather
than by old ‘trend-makers’, and that in itself
is an upside-down, wonderful concept!”

“As I saw at the Cersaie International
Exhibition Of Ceramic Tile And Bathroom
Furnishings in Bologna, Italy, in September,
tile formats will continue to evolve in 2019.
I loved small-format rectangular tiles placed
vertically and creating a play with texture,
muted and muddy pastel tones, handmade
finishes where irregularity is embraced,
and plays between matt and gloss finishes.
3D textural forms were big, too.”
