A skylight was inserted along the home’s

central spine to provide extra natural

light. The original home’s cypress pine

floorboards were sanded and restored

with a clear pigment-free satin finish to

highlight the timber’s natural hue.

The priority was introducing

much-needed natural light

to open up the home. Steve

has achieved this with the

slope of the exposed roof,

a wall of sliding doors and a

clerestory window, giving a

double-height sense of space.
