opposite, bottom) Steve salvaged a lump
of off-form concrete from the site of one
of his firm’s architecture projects, put
castors on it and turned it into a side table.
“The bedhead is a spare piece of formply
I had hanging around,” says Steve. The
‘K’ decor was made by a cabinetmaker
friend and stands for Koolloos. “Oreo is
everywhere!” adds Steve with a laugh.
STUDY (opposite, top) A private spot
off the side of the front deck, and more
homemade joinery, allows some work
to be done. Yellow touches feature in a
desk lamp found in an antique shop,
a ‘Serif’ stool’ by Charles Wilson and an
Artek poster that was gifted by a friend
when son Aalto was born – Artek was
co-founded by design icon Alvar Aalto.
