INFORMATIONAL GRAPHICS
Finally, the Testing Serpent likes to stick a couple of informational graphics into
the Writing and Language Test passages because having them on the Reading
Test just isn’t enough. The graphics on the Writing and Language Test are
similar to those on the Reading Test in that they are really just dressed-up data
analysis questions. In the Writing and Language Test, rather than ask about the
graphic itself, they will often ask you to fix the passage’s incorrect interpretation
of the graphic. Here’s an example in which the author misunderstood the data
shown in the graph.
Snowplow drivers perform an essential function in the United States:
clearing the roads of snow and ice so Americans can still be safe and
productive through the winter months. However, employment prospects
for snowplow drivers vary widely by region. While 25 percent of
Buffalo’s workforce was employed as snowplow drivers in 2017, only 5
percent of Atlanta’s employed citizens drove snowplows for a living that
year.
