Digits: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9


Units Digit: the digit in the one’s place (5,32 6 )


Integer: any number, including negatives and zero, that is not a decimal or a
fraction


Consecutive: in order


Quotient: the result (answer) of a division problem


Product: the result (answer) of a multiplication problem


Prime: any number that can be divided only by 1 and itself. But remember, 2 is
the first prime number, not 1!


Factor: the integers that can be divided into a number. For example, the factors
of 18 are 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, 18. (Don’t forget to include 1 and the number itself.)


Multiple: the answers you get when you multiply by a number. For example, the
multiples of 6 are 0, 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, etc.


Numerator: the number in the top part of a fraction


Denominator: the number in the bottom part of a fraction


Area: the region inside a two-dimensional shape, such as a square or a circle


Volume: the space inside a three-dimensional shape, such as a box or a cylinder


Perimeter: the distance around the outside of a shape


Radius: the distance from the center to a point on the perimeter of a circle


Diameter: all the way across a circle through the center (twice the radius)


Chord: any segment connecting two points on a circle


Circumference: distance around the perimeter of a circle


Mean: average


Median: the middle number in a set of numbers arranged in order (3, 4, 4, 5 , 6,


7, 8)

Mode: the most frequently occurring number in a set of numbers (3, 4 , 4 , 5, 6,


7, 8)
