COORDINATE GEOMETRY


We already saw a few graphs when we charted our functions. Now, we’re going
to take a deeper look at how graphs work and how the Serpent likes to test our
graph awareness. But first, let’s quickly recap some of the basics of coordinate
geometry.
This is a basic graph with some points on it.


The y-axis is vertical. The x-axis is horizontal. The origin is the point (0,0)
where they meet.


While   it’s    usually true    that    the vertical    axis    is  called  the y-
axis and the horizontal axis is called the x-axis, the SAT
might use other letters instead. This is annoying, but
harmless—all the same rules still apply.
