Gladrags and Yoga
Kanan Maroo
Mrs. Arni Sapkal is in her late 30s,
married, and has a cute 7-year old
daughter. She is one of us and this is
her story.
Arni joined the army through the Short
Service Commission for 5 years and
retired as Captain. As life would have it,
she got married and
started her family
life. Whilst she was
embarking on her
new turn in life, she
found herself facing
emotional and
financial upheavals.
She found a void
and to fill it, she
exercised, did Power
Yoga and did other
things that kept
her busy. Even then
she found herself
feeling that there
was something
missing. That was
when her search
brought her to The
Yoga Institute.
Arni thought that
learning yoga and
being able to teach yoga may prove
to be a good start in assisting herself
and her family in all walks of life. Over
the course of 1 year she completed her
teacher training course and embarked
on a new career. Arni says that she
found herself feeling a positive change
through all aspects in her life. She found
her personality changing for the better
and says that it has been life changing
in a very positive way.
She started with teaching only a couple
of students, and presently teaches more
than 30 students. She also teaches at
The Times Group, The Gold Gym at
Goregaon and has taught at the Aditya
Birla Group too.
Seeing this change in her, her husband
pushed Arni to enter
the Gladrags contest
this year. Arni was
one of over 100
contestants to clear
3 elimination rounds
and to be selected as
one of the 24 finalists
for this contest. On
March 12, 2017,
Arni competed and
was crowned the
Gladrags Mrs. India
2017 Mumbai. What
a spectacular finish it
was!
Arni says that
the credit of her
achievements and
the positive energy
that she experiences
every day in her life
is due to her practice
of yoga, which she says was the most
fortunate turn she took in her life.
So folks, yoga is not just Asanas and
breathing exercises. The Yoga Institute
shows you the holistic approach to life
in all aspects that we face every day.
Come and see for yourself what this
little oasis in the middle of Mumbai can
do for you. Go on, take the first step and
who knows where it might lead to!
