Learn Karma Yoga in 21 Days
Pooja Shah
I had recently enrolled as a volunteer
for the 21 days Better Living Certificate
Course. Strange as life may seem, this
was the first course that I had done
as a student at the Institute and this
ended up being the first course where I
gave my first lecture as a certified yoga
teacher!
When I enrolled as a volunteer, I didn’t
know what to expect. But looking back
at my three months’ journey, I can say
it has been a fulfilling and a happy
journey.
I come from the corporate world and
teaching was, and is, something very
alien to me. The one aspect of teaching
which I found very difficult to come to
terms with was repetition. How can
one teach the same thing, day in and
day out? Imagine talking about Karma
Yo g a every month, month over month.
I get bored doing the same routine
work pretty easily, I am happy to work
hard but doing the same thing again
and again? Very tough. Watching the
teachers teach the same subject month
on month with the same interest has
been a training ground for me. For
one, the intention of the teacher is to
share some learnings with the campers
and no two campers are same. So even
if the subject is same, the audience is
different and that is what makes all the
difference. I feel this commitment to the
task, even if it is seemingly boring and
repetitive, has helped me beyond yoga,
