Yoga and Total Health — June 2017

(Barré) #1

however, is something like “Hm”
produced in rapid succession.

Now, try to follow the humming
noise, maintaining the same posture i.e
all the orifices shut. In the beginning,
it is always confused, but later on, as
the mind becomes attentive, it becomes
very clear and can be distinctly heard

like the physical sound. Thence follow
the different stages. They are four (1)
Arambha Avastha or the preliminary
state (2) Ghata Avastha or the state
of a jar, (3) Parichaya Avastha or the
acquainted state and (4) Nispatti Avastha
or the ultimate state of perfection. They
are, as it were, the stages of absorption
in course of hearing the Nada.

Definitely. When I would go to
teach an early morning class at The
Yoga Institute, and would go upto the
Yogendra kitchen to fetch warm water
for Jalaneti, Mother, knowing that I had
no time for breakfast, would invite me
for some steaming Idlis and her special
chutney.

Whenever she would see me downcast
and depressed, she would cheer me up.

Whenever she needed to go out and
have a change, she would come with me
to our home in Borivali, especially when
my husband was away conducting yoga
seminars in far off countries. Then
we would do some deep sharing like a
mother and daughter would.

She was warm and friendly towards
all her students.

She was a great help in building up
the Institute.

She was in charge of the fledgling
Institute, which her husband,

Shri Yogendraji, built. She was a mother
to all the students.

Indeed she was our Mother.
No doubt about it.
