post-practice
From Supta Gomukhasana
(Reclining Cow Face Pose),
it’s easy to lift the legs and
drop into Savasana (Corpse
Pose). Do this consciously,
straightening the legs fully,
then lowering them to the
ground slowly. When they
reach the ground, bring your
legs hip-distance apart and
relax them fully. Stay here
for 20 breaths.
purpose
This practice works the hips
and legs in service to the
heart. Creators Nicki Doane
and Eddie Modestini enjoy
practicing to music as a
reminder to be joyful and
uplifted when the asanas get
intense, cueing us that even
when we are strengthening
our most fundamental
grounding muscles, our
hearts can be uplifted.
preparation
Music uplifts the practice for
Doane and Modestini. Their
playlist is heavy on cuts by
Ziggy Marley, George Har-
rison, Michael Franti &
Spearhead, and even the
Red Hot Chili Peppers. But
you don’t have to follow
their suggestions; make your
own playlist based on what
inspires you, and see how it
uplifts your experience.
